A Man on the Inside is the wholesome new comedy that everyone is talking about and the world is already ready for a second season!

**Quick warning, this article contains spoilers about the entirety of A Man on the Inside Season 1**

The hilarious show is actually based on a true story — not to be confused with the Peacock show Based on a True Story — and is equal parts comedy and sentimentality. In just eight episodes it addresses aging, memory loss, familial issues, and so much more. What can we say, it’s just one of those shows!

While the ending of Season 1 certainly left the door open on more from the comedic duo of Danson and Schur, fans are still impatiently waiting on news regarding the Netflix series.

Here is everything we know about A Man on the Inside Season 2, including whether or not the cast and crew are interested in returning.

Is A Man on the Inside Season 2 Coming To Netflix?

At this time, Netflix has yet to announce whether A Man on the Inside has been renewed for a second season. If you want it, tell everyone you know to give the show a watch!

How Does A Man on the Inside Season 1 End?

After spending a considerable amount of time in the Pacific View Retirement Community, Charles (Danson) makes a stunning realization in regard to the case of the missing necklace. While Charles and Julia (Lilah Richcreek Estrada) were investigating a necklace they believed to have been stolen, the finale revealed that was not the case.

In the end, it was Gladys (Susan Ruttan) who was behind the missing jewelry item and the watch stolen out of Elliot’s (John Getz) room. Earlier in the season, Gladys started to show signs of significant cognitive decline and memory problems, something Charles had seen in his own late wife, Victoria. He was able to piece together that there was no ill intent whatsoever and that Gladys had merely taken the items out of confusion.

With the case having been solved and Charles getting his groove back after Victoria’s death, he begins to reenter society and even takes a guest lecturing spot at the school where he previously taught. He also makes amends with all of the Pacific View Retirement Community residents who he lied to, including Calbert (Stephen McKinley-Henderson), who was most perturbed by Charles’ ruse.

The season ends with Charles attending the wedding of Elliot and Virginia (Sally Struthers) at the retirement community while Julia receives another case that she first deems unsolvable before presumably calling Charles in to help.

Does the Cast and Crew Want to Do a Second Season?

They sure do. Talking with Decider ahead of Season 1’s release, two of the actresses from the show, Mary Elizabeth Ellis and Richcreek Estrada, expressed interest in coming back for more.

“Season 2, yes, please. Would love a Season 2, 3, 4, and 5. Keep them coming,” Mary Elizabeth Ellis shared as Richcreek Estrada added, “We’ll do it forever.”

As far as what the show’s creator has said, Schur recently spoke with Deadline and explained that while the first season is based on the Chilean documentary The Mole Agent, the writers and creatives are teeming with concepts for additional installments in the comedy series.

“We’re sort of in a fingers crossed, we’ll that bridge when we come to it, kind of a deal. But I will say that there is no shortage of ideas from me and from other writers about what we might do in a future season. Fingers crossed, we’ll see,” Schur told the outlet.

How Was Season 1 of A Man on the Inside Received?

One hopeful indicator in terms of the show’s renewal possibility is just how well it is doing among viewers and critics alike. On review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, the series is sitting at 96% favorable rating from critics and 95% from audiences.

Additionally, the show took the No. 1 spot on Netflix’s TV chart in its first weekend. As of November 27, the show is at No. 2, just below Netflix’s newly debuted docuseries, Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey?, which premiered on Monday.

Who Could Guest Star In Season 2?

Given that A Man on the Inside Season 1 features incredible talent in the form actors like Struthers, Getz, McKinley-Henderson, Stephanie Beatriz, and Veronica Cartwright, the possibilities for Season 2 are endless.

Schur and Danson also snuck a surprise cameo of D’Arcy Carden — a.k.a. Janet from The Good Place — in the Season 1 finale so maybe Season 2 could reunite other TGP cast members. Decider did ask Schur about potential guest stars for a Season 2 to which he joked that Only Murders in the Building — the Hulu show executive produced by his wife, J.J. Philbin — had taken all of their possible actors.

“I think Only Murders has essentially cornered the market on guest stars,” Schur joked. “There aren’t any guest stars left. They’ve all been on that show.”

He added in terms of cameos and future cast members, “If we’re lucky enough to have another season, we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it.”

Meanwhile, Ellis said that not only is she open to a second season, she is already dreaming of older actors who could swing by their set.

“I would love to have Carol Kane on. I mean, [she’s] incredible. Does Shirley MacLaine want to come do our show? Let’s get her in there,” Ellis said. “There are so many incredible older actors who have been around for so long whose stories I would love to just sit around and hear.”

The first season of A Man on the Inside is currently streaming on Netflix.
