The NFL season is in full swing, which means Taylor Swift is back at the top of everyone’s mind once again as her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, enters his 12th season on the Kansas City Chiefs.

But Monday Night Football host Joe Buck says he’s going to have to watch how many jokes he cracks about Swift on the show, especially after Troy Aikman referred to the pop star as Kelce’s “missus.”

“You know they’re not married, right?” Buck told Aikman, who replied, “I’m sure I’m in trouble for saying that.”

“I mean, it happens,” Buck replied.  “My daughters have warned me multiple times today, ‘Dad, I know you think you’re funny. Don’t make any jokes.'”

Aikman’s comment sparked marriage rumors about the lovebirds. But he’s not the only NFL commentator to make the same slip-up. CBS Sports anchor Tony Romo also accidentally referred to Swift as Kelce’s wife during a Chiefs-Bills game last season.

“As you see, Kelce’s wife, Taylor Swift, is in the audience,” he said. “Er, I’m sorry. Girlfriend!”

He added, “I root for them to get married. ‘Cause they’re not married, guys, I was joking.”

Despite the furor her presence sometimes brings, Swift has become a staple at Kelce’s Chiefs games — so much so, fans immediately noticed when she didn’t attend two of his recent games.

But a source told Us Weekly “nothing has changed” between the couple, saying, “They’re spending as much time together as possible while balancing their careers and individual responsibilities — his game and her music empire, along with personal projects.”

“They’re choosing not to dwell on the noise, focusing instead on staying true to themselves and being happy,” the source added. “They simply shrug off the stories. They see it as just another example of the press lifting someone up only to tear them down.”

Despite the warnings Buck’s daughter gave him, this surely won’t be the end of the marriage jokes.
